Events Overview

Events are at the heart of Dream Planner. Each event is a self-contained workspace where you manage every aspect of your planning — from the checklist and budget to guests and vendors.

Event Types

When creating an event, you choose a type that best describes what you are planning. The event type determines which checklist template is suggested and helps organize your planning experience.

TypeDescription
WeddingFull wedding planning with ceremony, reception, and all the details
BirthdayBirthday parties for any age, from kids’ parties to milestone celebrations
CorporateBusiness events like conferences, team outings, and product launches
SocialCasual gatherings, dinner parties, reunions, and get-togethers
OtherAny event that does not fit the categories above

Tip: The event type is mainly used to suggest a relevant checklist template. You can always customize the checklist regardless of the type you choose.

Event Statuses

Every event has a status that reflects where it is in the planning lifecycle:

Draft

When you first create an event, it starts as a draft. This is your sandbox — add details, build your guest list, and set up your budget without any pressure. Draft events are only visible to you.

Active

Once you are ready to start planning in earnest, your event moves to active status. Active events show up prominently on your dashboard and are the ones you are actively working on.

Completed

After your event has taken place, mark it as completed. Your data is preserved so you can review budgets, guest lists, and vendor contacts for future reference.

Archived

If you want to tidy up your dashboard without deleting anything, archive an event. Archived events are hidden from the main view but can be restored at any time.

Managing Your Events

Editing Event Details

To update your event details:

  1. Navigate to the event’s Overview tab.
  2. Click the Edit button or the settings icon.
  3. Update any fields — name, date, location, description, or type.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Publishing a Draft Event

When your draft event is ready:

  1. Open the event.
  2. Navigate to the Overview tab.
  3. Click Publish or change the status to Active.

Your event will now appear as an active event on your dashboard.

Multiple Events

You can create and manage multiple events simultaneously. Each event is completely independent — guests, budgets, vendors, and checklists are all scoped to the individual event. Switch between events using the event selector on the dashboard.
